The mean self-directed learning in nursing students was at a moderate level, which does not seem to be sufficient. There was a significant relationship between self-directed learning and sample size, year of study, and semester ( ). Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software (version 2) was used for data analysis. In the meta-analysis section, I 2 index and the random effects model were used. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, all studies that had examined the level of self-directed learning in nursing students until March 2, 2020, were searched in Science Direct, Ovid, Scopus, PubMed, ProQuest, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases. This study was conducted to analyze the existing research on the level of self-directed learning in nursing students.

Self-directed learning plays an important role in nursing education and is associated with academic achievement, communication self-efficacy, assertiveness, responsibility, and students’ clinical competencies. In this article, I review CMA 2.2.Background. Examples of the improvements include the ability to do the following: (a) use a spreadsheet interface for data entry, (b) compute effect-size estimates from study-level data in more than 100 formats, (c) include multiple study designs in the same analysis, (d) include continuous, dichotomous, and correlational data in the same analysis, (e) assess multiple independent subgroups, outcomes, time points, and comparisons within studies, (f) compute fixed-effect and random-effects models, (g) import data from Excel, RevMan, SPSS, and STATA, (h) run cumulative and sensitivity analyses, (i) test for moderator variables using mixed-effects analysis of variance and meta-regression, and (j) create high-resolution forest and funnel plots. Users of CMA version 1 should note that several new features have been added in version 2. In March 2006, Borenstein, Hedges, Higgins, and Rothstein released version 2.2.027 of their meta-analytic software called Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA). In this article, I review CMA 2.2.027 from the perspective of the Hedges and Olkin
